Preparation

Hi I’m looking to tile my bathroom and I’m just wondering if I can tile straight onto these walls once I scrape off the loose adhesive and plaster or does it need to be rebounded? Also I’m tiling the whole way up do I need to remove the emulsion paint it seems stuck well to the wall and not flaking? I’m going to use Mapei plaster primer before tiling and the tiles I’m using are 600x300 porcelain.

thanks

Best to give the paint a sand and then score all over the top half with a Stanley blade to give a better adhesive bond.
Scrape and make the bottom half flat like the top then prime all walls and use flexible cement based adhesive. Before all the above make sure there's no bounce on your walls. Good luck 👍
