Preparing wall for tiles

Hi all.

Looked at this job today...tiles have been removed by plumber..most of the skim on the walls is sound...but there are patches that have been removed.

In this situation would you just patch the areas with rapid set? or patch with multi-finish or full reskim?

personally mate i would go with rapid set,but i would double check the condition of the wall,loose or flaky finish

I would use some rapid set but prime first, I'de be scraping the old paint off as well

Make sure that skim is fully intact....do some tapping around the wall and listen for hollow spots.....remove the old adhesive residue and prime up...then just skim in with rapidset..as the lads have suggested....

Thanks..my gut feeling was to skim patches with rapid...although 1 wall may need reskim. Most is sound though...but u know how it is you start aking lose bits off and you end up taking the whole wall off! :ninja:

I know I'm going to sound thick here but just starting out and want to make sure I get this right. When you say use rapid set to skim the wall, is this a trade name or is it addy or a plaster mix. :helpsmilie:

Those photos look very similar to some work I've recently done, I use the same approach to prepare

I also use One coat from wickes....Dries very hard and fast setting...leaves a nice smooth finish and can go upto 50mm in one application...so is handy when more than skim falls off....

I use 1 coat from wickes, its the dogs danglies.......
