Hi
my first post so Hi to all. I've read a number of posts and have really enjoyed the discussions as they are most informative. Hopefully, someone can give me some advice. My tiling competency is most probably at the high end of DIY having successfully tiled about 20 bathrooms and kitchens during my lifetime. I've got some good tools (including a DW250N) and my last 3 bathrooms have been with large format porcelain tiles. All have been successful but have been lucky with walls that are more or less flat.
The problem I've now got is tiling my son's bathroom with 700mm wide tiles but in one corner of a solid external wall, it is out of true by about 20mm. It covers an area of about half a metre by one metre. I've read the advice about weight limits on plaster and equally my concern about plastering over plaster, so my idea is to chase off the plaster, fix galvinised expanded mesh to the wall and then render the wall with 3:1 sand cement. Float off the surface, and when hardened to tile with Mapei kerafix maxi directly onto the cement render patch. Would my suggestion be ok?
