hey there,
ive just started tiling for myself at the start of this year and ive just landed a contract for 100 kitchens, just the splashback, each kitchen has uneven walls and some holes in them, and each kitchen has a minimum of 7 sockets, some have 9, they all range from 3 to 5 square metres, everything is supplied just labour, not negotiated a price yet because the guy is on holiday, ive done 3 so far and each take a day to complete, i have no idea what to charge per kitchen, any advice would be great thanks!

wot is ur day rate? the problem im facing is the last guys that done the contract only did 1 tile high rouns the splashbacks so the man in charge thinks i should be able to do 2 in one day, i tried that the other day and worked from 8am till 6.30pm and managed 1 complete and the other half tiled and i didnt stop all day so im just doin 1 a day which still takes me nearly a hole day ayway because of all the sockets and movin cookers in and out

Seeing as you have just started out doing a splash back in a day is good going ,out of interest what type of tile are you using and do the splash backs have windows to go round.

So you are only going one tile high?

3 tiles high between units and worktop, about 8 high and 4 wide where the oven hood will be and 1 tile lower where the work tops split for fridge freezer , all the sockets are on the middle row, im goin through 4 boxes of 44 tiles 6x6 inch, its a hard graft to get 1 done in a day but im a fast learner and i dnt stop, no windows at the end of each worktops ive just to tile 4 tiles out which is the depth of the work top and just use tile trims

so wot would u charge then £150 a kitchen? or cheaper coz theres 100? second problem ive got is i can do much other work as im doin 1 a day so if i dnt get paid the right amount then im not making much

Did you not agree a price before you got the job, if not agrre to a price with the guy you are working for then you know where you stand .As for price seeing as you are new you will be a little slower so maybe go in at £120 a splashback that is still a good wedge per week of £ 600 run it by him and see what he says but at the end of the day only you know what you think you are worth.
