Pricing phone calls.

Tbh i cant see how you can price over the phone,as you cant see what your pricing for.

no i never price over the telephone, you can't if you work nationwide!! there are to many variables in each job!!

This is how I do it:
Customer (potential) phones: Can i have price over the phone please? "Yes, certainley" says I, your name please.....and your contact number..... and your address please.....if they have provided information so far then its a : "yes Sir/madam, I can visit you at blah blah o'clock". Turnit round on them fellas, your foot is in the door better than dismissing a vague phone call! Also sorts out genuine potential customers from competition finding out what everyone else is charging, sales people/yellow pages etc, cos they will put that phone down faster than you can say "advanced sales tactics"!!!! as you were.....

Spot on Turnip, to many tyre kickers out there. I always ask where they got my name from, If its a referral from a previous customer, then I will make an appointment to survey the job. I never give prices over the phone

I drove for over an hour on sunday to look at a shower cubicle for retiling,tanking etc.
I was recommended so no price agreed and i could easily see they were minted
It just so happened there was a lovely beach extremely close so i brought along my wife,sis in law and my two daughters,lol.
Boot full of shells on the way home,lovely evening out.
So no phone pricing here either.

I do occasionally if it's something simple like a kitchen splash back. I would give them a rough idea of what it may cost but would need to see the job for area and condition of walls etc

If they won't let you see the job, they're not serious about doing it, just fishing for prices incase they get round to it in my opinion. Pointless excersise.

caught out pricing job once will never do it again always go see whats needed and sell myself when im there usually works for me!

yes all the time for me ,give a price over the phone , if its like they said on the phone when i get there all cool ,if not ask for more before you start , its a matter of having to down here ,or you could be driving 100 miles to price things

I try not to price at all untill after I have done the sell. That usually means meeting the client in question so price over phone is a no go for me.

Me too and even then i'd be hard pressed to give a ball park figure! Meet the customer and seeing the job is a must, you can then sell yourself then email or post a full written detailed quote.

dont do it if i cant see it wont quote even with new house plans put a note on quote must be viewed prior to acceptance
