primer on slc

Hi all do you put primer on slc before tiling? many thanks

It cant hurt providing its not PVA

I do, but some manufacturers say that it's not necessary.

Ive never used primer over slc unless specified by suppliers. If you use a quality slc you shouldnt need it as its the slc bonding to the substrate thats more concerning!

I dont as a rule as the brand that I use say not to but I would defo check as other brands recommend it. Have a look on the bag of SLC and if it doesnt state it on there, then there should be a number to ring

as above
it all depends on the slc and adhesive being used. ie cement based, latex modified, anhydrate etc etc.

if its cement based and if its freshly laid then no BUT if its been down a while and dry as a bone, then it may be necessary.
just make sure its dust free and clean then brush a little bit of water on it and see how fast it absorbs. the last thing you want is the life being sucked out your adhesive before it had time to react properly.
