Primers

I'm a tiler who's been a sole trader for over 4 years, and I've done my training and know my stuff I think (LCB Level 2 ICA Distinction - served 2 Years with Master Tiler).

BUT, does anyone out there know a good primer+tanking+adhesive+matching slicone complete system (levelling compound both fibre re-inforced and concrete lay). I'm getting very WORD REMOVED off trying to juggle my finances at CTD around BAL, Ardex, Weber and Mapei, when all I want is a complete system at the right price. It's starting to reallyWORD REMOVED me off mainly due to the question of "Am I using the right primer in the correct dilution for this WORD REMOVED product?!"

It's getting to me now - that's why I can't sleep tonight - that and because a builder had me tiling onto 2 week old screed. I told him it's going to shrink and take the tiles with it, but he didn't care...

I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me if they have sorted a supplier of the whole system at good price.

(not keen on Granfix to work with or WORD REMOVED like Al-Murad's own brand. Can't do Mapei grout on walls as it falls off.)

What do you mean when you say Mapei grout falls off the wall? after recommendation from many people on this forum I started to use Mapei products and now thats all I use as I trust them and IMO they are really good to work with. I have never had grout falling off the wall

i hate mapei grout but falling of the walls sounds like floor grout you have been using ete

Can't really advise on one set up for all jobs as they all vary, substrates are different, tile types etc, just take each job as it comes, do the homework for each and you'll be fine.

No offence the tiler, but after four years and every qualification you want you really dont know your stuff. It takes years to know your stuff and every day to even the most experienced is a learning day. Something always crops up that you never knew or knew something about and then understood. To answer your question stick to bal products for ease of use and they have range of all you need. I know a lot of the guys on here have their own favourites which is fine but thats just my way. Used them for years and never a problem.

hi tiler,i dont think you will ever find a kit that has all these components in it,,as every tiling situation is different,,so many substrtes and tile types you couldnt make kits work surely..i think its a good thing you have to price these things seperately as it keeps you the fixer up to date on new materials and also the prices...keen businessman and all
