Problems with windows 7

I got a new computer at the begining of last year but have not wanted to use it as I was not keen on the set up. My old computer is knackered so I have set up the new one today.

Im having issues setting up my business email with the windows live mail software that is built into windows 7.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I preffered using outlook express but I cant do this on windows 7

What problems are you having mate I might be able to help. Not used windows 7 though, the Mrs has it and I hate it. She uses ms outlook though.

I cant get my business email to work. I put in my server details etc but I am starting to think that windows live is not compatable with my hosting or something.

my personal bt internet email adress set up easy. Didnt even need to put server details in

Go back into the account, go to the servers tab, and click the box that says "my server requires authentication" or whatever it says in that version.

Does it try to connect but fail?

Are you using POP3/SMTP?

It all looks well untill I press send/ recieve then I get error message

Think I might have figured it out.

I changed POP to IMAP

Its downloading files from my server so hopefully its gonna work

Can you not use mail.westlothianhandyman.co.uk instead?

Contact your host mate and check what the jupiter.svr5-speedyservers.com should be.

I kept the incoming server the same but changed outgoing to mail.westlothianhandyman.co.uk and I can now send email.

Do you think the incoming server will be fine to keep the way it is or should that be mai.westlothianhandyman.co.uk also?

Nah keep it as it is mate but it should work with the mail. thing too.

You might want to change the settings back to POP3 so you have a copy of all emails stored on the server long-term. If you download them all using IMAP, and your computer breaks, you lose the lot.
