I watched the full documentary on this some time ago, from the selection of the metals after days of work to the end product, fantastic viewing, and a whoile lot of effort goes into it, couldn't watch the youtube link as my connection is buggy tonight, looked like the same thing though

Dave, that is a great video mate.

I wish I could remember the documentary that I saw years ago that detailed how muskets were made hundreds of years ago. Like the samuri sword, it took months to make those by hand and the cost was equal to an entire year's income. It was fascinating to see how they formed the barrels and rifled them.

I love em. i bought a set about ten tears ago with the stand and cost a good few quid second hand and they are nothing special to some ive seen. then the knife laws changed and they are wrapped up in the loft somewhere. couldnt bring myself to chuck em in a bin outside the local cop shop:lol:

the japenese make their wood chisels this way

they are sharper and hold their edge better than anything we make

i would love a set but cant afford them

nice post gooner:thumbsup:

Handy for sharpening ya pencils.
at the moment doug im getting through quite a few pencils:lol:

and not much else

it has been a good exercise for me as i am revaluating every aspect of my business

i have got feedback from my existing customers in the guise of a survey to find out how i can improve my service to them

mostly good news

high standard of work , easy to get on with etc

the negatives floored me a bit

scruffy,................... clothes covered in addy and paint, unshaven,
doesnt give them confidence that i can finish to their standards

only got job as i was reccomended or they had seen previous jobs

its all easily rectified as im not a scruff outside work

so its not being a scruff at work thats called for

easily sorted and if thats the only complaint im doing a lot right

want me to take you to the men's product counter at a well known department store Mike? And I know a good men's barber shop.

A bloke who looks after himself and his appearance will always create the best first impression. :20:

thanks liz

im using boots botanic range at the mo...........anti aging moisturiser, skin wash and eye cream

my gear is up to date and trendy

i even have a manbag...........which gets me loads of stick down the pub

i have loads of shoes and hats

im a bit of a metrosexual on the quiet

works another matter

old trainers. check builders shirt and whites which have seen better days

i have to shave twice a day so by the evening i have stubble

my hairs short so its easier to keep clean

so a contrast between work and out of work

laurence llewellen bowen makes a lot of money from interior design

he gives the right impression with suit and tie

i like my suits smart not flouncy but i think its the way to go

plus a new set of whites every week

Iv had my Katana for about 4 years, saved up for about 4 years before that! Its my pride and joy! The chances of me handing it in are zip!!!
I had no idea there were so many fellow martial artists on here. I like this site even more

I'm thinking heavily about changing the business ethics of my business at the moment hopefully for the better, ill tell you lot if i do change!!!

Hi Mike,

I have spent a good deal of money on company shirts, sweat jackets, etc. All three of us try to shave, have a hair cut, have clean clothes, etc in front of the customers. Once the clothes get dirty we save them for demo days only. I do think it helps a lot, even if only as a subliminal thing for the customers. I told my guys no mulletts or ear rings 😀, and their tattoos are mostly hidden. Our trucks are clean and overall we present a good appearance, and keep the jobsite looking as good as we can.

The shaving thing is my big problem. I hate to shave, and like you I need another one by the afternoon.:mad2:

I've been thinking about getting a straightrazor and trying to learn to use it. Supposedly, this will give a much better shave and maybe I would make it all day without needing another one. Believe it or not, there is a forum for shaving called shavemyface.com LOL the internet!

ive got to go and price a job in aminute

so ive showered shaved and put a suit and tie on

a bit of splashy so i smell nice:hurray:

ill se if theres a difference and let you know

thanks rob

ive always taken the view thaat its the job that matters and how clean you work

i was wrong

looking clean and proffesional counts for a lot

im glad i learnt this lesson now while i still have a business to grow

well ive been and priced this job

ive got to send her a written quote so she can discuss it with her husband

but the main thing is i felt good being dressed up

rather than apologetic for being in my work clothes

it gave me confidence

so thats the way for me from now on
