Yes, I have heard it, too, many many times, there are youtube videos on it primarily aimed at the artistic mosaicist, it is meant to make the grout smoother to mix, it is written about in books, and passed on on forums and it's just rubbish.

Yes, you can add aditional latex SBR (which is not PVA) if extra flexibility is required for situations where there is a lot of vibration for example, but pva is a glue that is flexible while wet, so is of absolutely no use as a "rubberiser" when dry. One of those stupid stupid rumours. :thumbsdown:

Never heard of that before and personally wouldn't recommend it, the PVA could adversely affect the properties of the grout. If you're going to put anything in then buy a proper grout additive, PVA is wood glue.

I totally agree Don, however OP hasn't stated that it's a modified grout...still pva in a tiling environment, just bin it!
