hi I would be really interested I receiving some feed back and advise we have recently carried out a large project using quarts 600x600 white sparkle floor tiles supplied by internet firm tile mountain imported from china we screeded the floors and allowed it to set for 27 days we then covered the floor with SBR and allowed to dry we then laid the elec under floor heating my initial supplier advised against using these tile with ufh which raised my concerns I contacted the supplier who confirmed that they where compatible we then covered the ufh with latex self levelling compound and allowed to dry for 4 days we then laid the tiles with a recommended floor adhesive
we commissioned the ufh gradually over a few days
however after a few months the customer told us the tiles where coming up when we removed the tiles with the intention on re fitting them most of them had warped out of shape

the tile supplier sent out an engineer who said the fault was ours we and they have never heard of this problem before ?

Gemini's Gulfstone quartz is the only quartz I've ever known to be guaranteed over ufh, and I only found this out recently thanks to DavidHoweTiling. Personally I'd go back to the supplier and ask to be shown the proof of compatibility. It's all too easy for the suppliers to wash their hands of responsibility once material has been laid.

In certain conditions these 'poorer quality' tiles can even lift just from the heat of the sun in say a conservatory. One supplier I know of only recommends granite be installed over UFH and not any resin/quartz based tile.

You need proof from the supplier saying that they are suitable to be fixed over UFH, you'll probably have more chance knitting yoghurt than getting that!!!

we use the same supplier all the time the adhesive was Johnson's which the tile supplier confirms was adequate for the tiles
the slc was bond it level master approx. 5/6mm thick just enough to cover the ufh

and no we never back skimmed the tiles but I have now been told this a few times even if the adhesive failed would this still cause the tiles to warp out of shape

as a builder we carried out all the prosses correctly up to our tiler laying the tiles when the engineer came out to inspect he noticed there was a couple of areas where the tiler had dot and dabbed a few tiles even though the problem is all over he blamed ourselves for the way the floor was tiled if this was the case it should only have happened where the tiles where incorrectly fitted ie dot and dabbed I know these tiles should be on a full bed of adhesive but this method is sometimes used to level out discrepancy's by tillers
the tile supplier has confirmed the adhesive and slc where compatible ?

do you mean dot n dab is used to level level out discrepancy's? nope you build up to a flat surface and fix tiles to a solid bed. never dt n dab
