quarts floor tiles warping

so many dodgy cheap quartz tiles about i make it a policy of never laying with any form of ufh and dave howe is right only gulfstone could be used with ufh but even they could have problems.

as a builder we carried out all the prosses correctly up to our tiler laying the tiles when the engineer came out to inspect he noticed there was a couple of areas where the tiler had dot and dabbed a few tiles even though the problem is all over he blamed ourselves for the way the floor was tiled if this was the case it should only have happened where the tiles where incorrectly fitted ie dot and dabbed I know these tiles should be on a full bed of adhesive but this method is sometimes used to level out discrepancy's by tillers
the tile supplier has confirmed the adhesive and slc where compatible ?

do you mean dot n dab is used to level level out discrepancy's? nope you build up to a flat surface and fix tiles to a solid bed. never dt n dab

Might be unhelpfull as advice goes but if the floor was levelled correctly then why'd the tiler feel the need for dot and dabbing 😕

This happened to us on a job about 4/5 years ago with wet underfloor heating in a new build, few months later tiles all curled like quavers.
Lucky for us it was in a builders own house that we do plenty of work for and we weren't out of pocket.
I won't lay 600 x 600 quartz now full stop.

None of the tiles should have been dot and dabbed. Like you say, this has happened to tiles laid with a notched trowel too. Your tiler should have known to back butter floor tiles! This still would not have stopped the warping, but the bad installation gas given the supplier a get out of jail free card!

Not our usual stuff now I think back, it was what was recommended by the supplier can't remember brand unfortunately but it was enough to make me walk away from anyone who wants then laid or talk then into something different.

Doesn't inspire confidence in your record keeping if you cannot confirm the adhesive used. To present a case you need such basic information.
