quick drying slc

anyone know of a slc that can be laid and 2/3 hours later, tiled on.

Not sure but i was using mapei 'renovation screed' leveling compound this evening and it seemed to be going off quickly but you'd need to check set times.

I used the Ardex SLC today for the first time and that says that it can be tiled on in 4 hours!

any tried mixing it with hot water..........that makes addy go off quick

I wouldnt play games like that mate. If you tile to soon, you will be asking for trouble.

How come there is such a rush on it?

there ripping the kitchen out on sunday and i got 2 days to tile the floor b4 the kitchen fitters come in, and where a wall was knocked out theres a bit of leveling to be done, i could proberly do it with the addy but if i could get a fast setting latex i could do it as soon as i got there and by the time i unloaded the van and set out the floor it would have been dry.

I think I would have gone the ardex route for this one but not sure which product it is.

mind you what I did was put down the SLC and then overlaid it with hardibacker board screwed through into the concrete. Tiled that the same afternoon but was hard work with all the drilling and plugging

ive just found BAL do one.... bal rapid set latex tile after 2/3 hours.... anyone used it yet (any well off tilers)

I didnt look to see what the SLC was called to be honest, I checked the small print and didnt even look at what the big bold black letters on the front said :mad2: I can let you know tomorrow if thats any help? Would be a fraction of the price of BAL. Not bad stuff to work with either.

Ardex Arditex NA can be tiled after 4 hours (subject to depth of pour). It's easy to pour and comes up really smooth.
Alternatively the BAL Acrybase is also ready for tiling after 4 hours (subject to depth of pour). It doesn't flow as well as the Arditex and is nearly twice the price.

I always prefer the Ardex product 'cos BAL are jut crooks IMO.
