Ive done it before where Ive put 1" baton round infront of the feet, just stuck down with mastic, then level to the batons, once its dry you can take the batons out and youve only got to pack the adhesive for the last inch by the feet, which will be almost covered by the plinths when they go back on anyway.
That way you dont get crap all over the feet so it looks neater and cleaner and also you dont lose your leveller under the units!
Worked a treat when I did it.

thats what i was planning, called it shuttering when i laid concrete many years ago
