I re grouted a shower about 2 months ago. Used my Feinn tool with the tungsten blade to get the grout out. Took forever - very tedeous messy job. The dust was unbelievable. If you're gonna use electric tool to get the grout out make sure you hang a damp dust sheet to cover the whole bathroom door. This will catch the dust and stop the majority of it going all over the rest of the house. Also be very careful not to damage the tiles. It is a very arduous job and will take longer than you think.

Re-grouted a ladies shower area the other day 30sqm tiles were 40=20.
I managed to have it all raked out with a multimaster and regrouted in 8 hours, wasn't difficult and I earnt £230,cost me £10 in materials.A good days work
Was very dusty though,I looked 20 years older as all my hair was grey, make sure you wear gloves cause your hands will dry out. also wear face mask and goggles.
Good tip from sibs on the damp dust sheet.

Well I learned the hard way re the dust sheet. The cleaner had been in that morning and by the time I'd finished there was a layer of dust through the whole house and they ended up having to clean it all over again. I was mortified - I thought having the bathroom door closed would be sufficient. They gave me the tip about the dust sheet and were very understanding (friends of a friend and lovely people)
They were also very pleased with the end product.

some jobs are not worth the hassle,
if you can rake the grout out with one of your door keys....its easy money....:hurray:
if the grout does not come out easy...like mapei ulracolour....you will need to cut it out electronically....you can chip tiles, make loads of dust and get really annoyed...£100 - £130........oooooh i dont know if i want that job!!!!!!

ooooh ark at u, all i was saying is if you need to do that kind of work...then get there tommorrow.....but in some cases it can be hard to correct others errors.....p.s in london we dont charge over the odds....We pay over the odds...congestion charge(£8.00) , parking at £4.00 per hr (AVG.) Etc.......

and i can also assure you that there is no work beneth me.....
i have done it all....more than twice!!!!!!!

cmon dean, i was trying to illustrate a point.....prices are higher in london than any where else because....Londoners pay more to do the job....today cost my company £42........and all i did for this £42 pound bill was turn up and park.....
its got nothing to do with getting my knickers in a twist.....i feel sorry for the customer....admitedliy all my costs will be passed onto the customer....but i need to pay the costs first....which means i have to pay £210 this week before i ask the customer for any of my money! (wages)..........the wage gap between north and south is not just because londoners charge more.......its relative.......
