A small bathroom floor with sanitary wear in place that needs overboarding prior to tiling can take you a day to complete. If you charged a metre rate you'd be working for peanuts.
Conversely, a high metreage floor can earn you big dollars when priced by the m2.
Just decide what you want to earn per day, asses how much you can achieve in a day, include the cost of your materials, calculate a metre rate and calculate your day rate + mats, then tell the customer the price that enables you to earn the most.
