Re-grout kitchen floor

Hi all

i tiled a kitchen floor 10sqm approx 2 month ago.... this was onto a chipboard floor .. already there. i used a 2 part mix add and wide joint flexi grout.. but now the grout is cracking up in the middle.. ( thisis where the floor was at its highest point) approx 15mm !!!) OH PLUS THE TILE !! 9 MM)) any advice on how to rectify ?? HELP

I would say its your chipboard floor thats the problem, sounds like to much movement, only way is to rip it up, ply the floor and relay.

YUP thats what i told the customer .. but they said they didnt have money for that option.. so i explained that it could move..!!! i have told them i will regrout this time only .. next time they will have to pay ( they are buying grout.. just free labour !!! grrr ) but i was thinking if i mix it thicker or is there an admix polymer etc i could poss use to give more flex? ... or maybe i could just Silicon the lot .. lol JK

Did you explain this to them before you tiled the floor?

Kitchen floor ...chipboard.......this could well be a floating floor and i don't advise that they be tiled..IMO....

yeah ... i told them before i started... but you know the customers !!!

Dave most prob is a floating floor... well the tiles nearly are !!! oh well just have 2 put it down to exp ! .. just thought some 1 may know of a way.. without ripping up.. cheers:mad2:

If you are going to do this then i feel the best Groout to use would be Bal Wide joint and GT1 admix. Dont mix it thicker as this wont help, just follow instructions.
IMO the floor should come up but its your call. Good luck

i have always refused to tile onto a floating floor, problem is nearly all new builds and extensions are floaters..learn to lay karndean or laminate and then recommend that as an alternative, that way you could still get the job.
