My father has a detached retina in his left eye; a cataract in his right eye; glaucoma and very limited peripheral vision - he can't see anything that is more than about 45 degress to his side. He also says he keeps seeing red spots everywhere and people standing next to him who aren't there.

A while ago he said the flowers by next door's side gate {about 8 ft from our back door} had lasted really well. There are no flowers there. He insisted there were yellow and red flowers in a vase - this was a two foot concrete gnome that has had different coats of paint that are in various states of peeling.

Yesterday morning he was looking out of the kitchen window at the fields behind the house and commented on how many cows there were. This was a flook of crows about two hundred yards away.

In the afternoon I took him for an eye test and here's the scarry bit the optician said:- You have very good eyesight for some one who is 90 its up to the required standard for driving. Luckily he gave up driving about 5 years ago.
