Removing adhesive from walls

What's the best tool to use to scrape the existing adhesive off. It's years old and stubborn as hell.

Don't forget to scratch that emulsion and prime walls before retiling, and don't dot and dab!

Nothing at all you seem to have it all sussed!

PVA and dot and dab. Anyone who does this is definately not a tiler!!!! Do it this way but wear a hard hat when in the bath or shower.

Just an update, I was given a steam wallpaper stripper and told it would work. And it did. Worked a treat

Then I PVA'd and used smartie sized dots of adhesive, about four dots to a tile
