Repair chips in porcelain tiles.

Got a problem on a job just finished.
Two tiles have got very small chips approx 2-3mm round on edge of tile, which came about when had to remove tiles next to them when a towel rail had to be moved.
The problem is that cannot get replacements from same batch.
They are very expensive white porcelain with sparkling flecks .
I need to try and repair .
I could do this with stone no problem but have never tried on porcelain.
The tile is semi polished i guess .
Anyone achieved this before.
If so with what product.

I dont know of anything which can do it Jonny if you had the chips superglue would probably your best bet but akemi doesnt face fill very well on porcelain

ive drawn a blank as well . trying to find someone who specialises in reenameling in alton hants area .

i would try asking a granite fitter they are always polishing in stone using coloured apoxy resin worth a try

As Ray above for me Jonny, I did it once under the guidence of a marble/granite worktop guy. If you can match the colour, you mix the two part epoxy ratio: filler an orange, hardener a golf ball, (scale down to suit).

I mixed the amount I needed, applied it slightly proud of surface, left it to start to firm up, and then using a stanley knife blade wet with washing up liquid and water, drew the blade over the epoxy.

I think getting the colour match is the hardest part, plus the timing. Good luck Jonny.

as stated above the problem with using epoxy is matching the colour also when it dries the sheen between the porcelain and the epoxy will be different, but if it is only a small chip then it shouldnt be noticeable unless the colour match is way off or you are particulary looking for the repair.

not being funny but you could try a local bath doctor......they may have an idea how to get round this one ...wortha try

I have all the kit to make stone/granite repair.
problem is when client has seen chip before repair will always be looking for it .
have got close but not quite there yet.

I used some stuff called milliput which is a 2 part modeling epoxy...The Epoxy Putty With A Thousand Uses

We used a cream worktop joint compound to repair a small chip on a floor tile a while ago.

Never heard back from the peeps so i take it it was ok, just a small chip though.

Felt bad about doing it but it did look fine.

I used a 2 part epoxy resin on a grey porcelain tile. Not coloured but dried to an opaque sort of finish, a bit like clear silicon. It was very small and the customer was happy as the chip was noticeable prior to me fixing it. Not a perfect finish but better than a chip.
