Hi from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am planning to use some old Spanish ceramic tiles in my backsplash renovation. But I would like to know something about them first. Their origin is unknown to me. I was hoping to find a picture of similar tiles on the internet, which has not happened so far. This search led me to tilersforums.com. The reason I know they are Spanish is the "sign" that is handpainted on one of the tiles It reads -- Cca Sta ANA SEVILLA-TRIANA SPAIN. The size of the tiles is 11" long, 2 3/4" high and 1/2" thick. they have different pictures inside a blue border. Each tile is hand-painted in a decorative style with a slightly light warm gray background, and colors that are ultramarine blue, ochre, green, black, browns, yellows and deep red. For example, one tile shows a man shooting a rifle, another tile a sailing ship, and another a chicken or rooster crowing. I also have smaller tiles - 2 1/2" squares with an animal or plant inside a gold-colored circle. Does anyone know something about these tiles?
