Hi there, I'm a new member and wanted to ask some questions which are pretty relevant to the topic here - any advice would be most welcome.

I want to clean the hallway in our Victorian conversion, which I'm guessing are uncoated ceramic tiles and that the flooring is original. It's certainly very unloved as it has 3 flat worth's feet over it every day - as you can see from the photo it is pretty marked and stained. Can anyone suggest what products to use please? At the moment I'm thinking Lithofin Victorian Tile Restorer, KF Tile Polish, and then Easy Care.

If after viewing the photo's you think that it would take a specialist to clean it then I would say the dimensions (off the top of my head) were roughly a metre wide by 4 metres long. Would anyone in the South London area be able to give me a rough quote? But to be honest we won't have a lot of money, hence why I was going to try and do it myself.

Any help or suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

Jonathan

Those are victorian tiles not ceramics.

You could try a small test area to try and determine a process:

I would apply Aqua Mix Sealing & Coating Remover and allow it to dwell for about an hour keep it wet by moving it around with an emulsifying pad.(This will break down any sealers and wax on the surface) Then without cleaning it up add some phosphoric acid diluted 4:1 and mix it in with the S& C Remover and look for any efforvescence this will remove any cement/grout residue. Then thoroughly wash and either Vacuum or dry the test area. You are now ready to deep clean the area and for this I would apply some Aqua Mix Heavy Duty Tile & Grout cleaner and leave it to dwell for about 10 minutes keeping it wet then scrub it with either a small scrubbing brush or nail brush then Wet Vac that solution up or mop it and dry it and see what sort of a result you get but it should be good. Then if you are happy repeat the process all over the floor small areas at a time. Once the floor is completely dry I would leave it for 72 hours and then apply Aqua Mix Enrich & Seal following the directions on the label. The floor should then require no more maintainance for the next 10 Years or so.

Hi Kev, thanks for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. I'll decide to whether to try and tackle it myself or whether to get someone in to do it. If anyone local to South London is interested then please contact me, or if anyone can recommend someone that would be fantastic. Thanks, Jonathan
