Rubi cutter guarantee??

D

Daz

My Rubi TR600S has had a hard life, it is fair to say.
I have noticed that it no longer cuts straight or square and although I have learnt to compensate for this I would like it sorted. I have, indirectly, contacted Rubi to see if I can get it serviced under the 5 year warranty and the feedback was that "it has been used too much to be valid under warranty"???? (it's only 3 years old!).

Basically, I have been told to purchase a new cutter :mad2:.

I'm intrigued to know if anyone else has had similar Rubi experiences....
Has anyone else had issues with Rubi's cutting out of square?
Has anyone tried to obtain a repair from Rubi and how did you get on?

Cheers,

Daz

if it's no longer "fit for use" and still under warranty I'd say that Rubi are under obligation to service it for you Daz,, after all it's a professional tool and therefore subject to all the everyday rigours expected.

I've had both my tx's serviced, but delt with the rep direct. This was done when they were four years old and managed to blag it for free. Also when dealing with the rep direct, I've managed to get several parts for my cutters for free. I would contact them again and also check the terms and conditions of the guarantee.....

Doug, it still works fine but it used to work better, IMO.

I've kept the rails properly lubricated with a Silicon lubricant and it is generally clean. My opinion is that they should service it, too. I'm gonna keep on at them and was curious to hear of others experiences.

I've had my current TX 700 about 10 years now Daz and it has been used for everything and then some, still serving me well and without a service, so I guess maybe I just got a good one.

I'll tell you what they wouldn't give me and that was a new carry case for my tx700. I'll be buggered if I'm gonna pay over 50 quid for one......

Cheers Stewart,

I'm gonna hassle my local rep again!

got to agree Stew, cases need some looking at, really need to reinforce the hinge area on them, both my 700 and my 1200 cases have failed there.

should have bought a sigma there is nothing to go wrong on them,un-complicated tough build 1000kg breaking strain so you can stamp on it,been around longer than rubi and can cut a 20mm wide strip of a 600x300 porcelain tile 12mm thick.i have met many tilers who have had the lever/snapping mechanism break on ts and tx,they work for some but cost.my sigma is 17 years old and get slung around, still cuts straight and costs me a new cutting wheel once a year.
