rubi mosaic seperator??

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I see a picture and I still don’t know how it works (me dumb).

In our local CTD they use the Rubi tile breaker (its like a G clamp with the top being like a breaker and the bottom being a sharp pip), so they score with cutter then break with breaker. Recons it breaks better, any thickness and not so many losses. They demo’d it and it does work (but near £100 – ouch). {fyi – they never used the crank part but just gave the height adjuster a twist – very crude – but worked}
Anyone run separate breakers? Is this similar to this mosaic thing? Is there a picky of the mosaic thing actually attached to a TX?

I use mosaic nippers, or if its natural stone and they are small enough I use my smallest sigma, works every time.

:thumbsup:

Just looked at it and assume the base bit is the breaker? But seems too flat, or maybe it's just the photo angle... and you'd have to slide it down for each tessera? Phaffy...? Hmmm...

You need a TX or a TR for it to fit, a TX I have but if you have'nt an expensive cut for mosaic

Ok used it today.... for two mosaics then went straight back to the pinchers. Might be ok on thin ceramics but alot of fiddle for no great results. probably not the last time I will be suckered by tool **** though :lol:

I use a montolit master piuma for mosaics, bleedin' brilliant. For fiddly odd cuts I use a glass nipper, and a variable speed grinder with a glass blade for cuts too awkward for the montolit. Simples!
