after some advise. wifey wants me to tile our bathroom in sand stone mosaics but i think a whole bathroom in mosaics will look a bit odd? i've never my self seen a whole room in them so i'm asking you have you seen them and do you think i'm nuts? any recommendations?

also is sand stone that hard to work with?

easy to cut very soft
when sealing sandstone I use 2 coats of LTP cleartone oil, this brings out a lovely colour, then 2 coats of ltp mattstone sealer.
It is very porous so will absorb sealer at a great rate

Hi PT,

As you know, the customer is always right and should get what they want.

And the wise husband knows that his wife is always right.

In this case, you have two strikes against you! Start tiling!

On a serious note, we have tiled many bathrooms that were all mosaics, and the end result looked nice in each case. If it is well done and laid out right, I think any installation of tile and stone is a winner.

any pic examples would be great not necessarily sand stone. i'm just really having trouble picturing it in my head.

Just a point, if this is your own house it would be worth considering setting out and possibly lowering & levelling the ceiling to a height where it would accomodate a full tile at the top, rather than a likely raked cut. Your eye will be drawn to ceiling height

PT, if you would have asked for those photos a year ago I could have helped you...my computer crashed and burned and took thousands of photos with it:incazzato::mad2::20: . I had not backed any of them up nor were they on discs. I lost them all.

Now, one idea would be to search the Casa Dolce Casa website. We installed tons of that tile (very nice stuff BTW) for about 5-6 years. On their website they used to have a lot of photos of mosaics in bathrooms, and as I recall they looked really nice.
