"fraid I know a couple of young lads killed by one punch. Both were innocent bystanders. (one was only 18)

Walk away all the time, I have already mentioned the story about my close friend Malcolm from Southport, coming out of the pub after getting drinks for him and his severly handicapped wife (ms) only to find a sick perverted biker with his hand on Margarets Knee, mally punched the piece of dirt once, just once, but the fella lost the sight in his eye, mally got 18 months and was dead at 62, miss him everyday.

My mate went out for a drink with his brother inlaw, both got well hammered and started arguing when they got home. My mate was stabbed to death by his brother inlaw with two of the kiddies and wife watching.

Sad, but true stories.

I remember one case as a copper.

A lad was having his 21st birthday party at his family home in a nice area of Wimbledon.

That same day, a local lad got out of jail after three years for GBH. He'd been in the pub all day lashing it up.

This gang left the pub and happened to walk past this 21st birthday party and gate crashed it. Asked to leave after as few minutes, the fella picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the birthday boy through the heart.

Why can't people just be people!

aiso fighters gain a reputation that will follow you everywere, its good to be able to handle yourself but only as a last resort ,its takes a man to walkaway :thumbsup: imo

I put my girls into tai kwon do ( hope I spelt that right) as soon as I could, Laurie is 18 and is cool as a cucumber and Ellie is 4 but loves going on wednesday's and saturdays, I really think it brings out their innermost qualities, having said that Ellie likes to slap me on the face of a morning to wake me up and she always wins............

:hurray::hurray::hurray:

i also put three children in to tae-kwon-do son/daughter dropt out after a year other girl has been going 6-7 years , she is a black belt she was english/welsh junior champion and loves the fighting in tournaments all over the land, shes a good looking girl .but she is hard as nails!!!!!!

OK...from a big softie girl's point of view it just makes me all so sad, all that aggro, for what?

I can understand Dave for being proud of his boy sticking up for himself, but my son did that as a student in Nottingham, too, he was ok the first time it happened (he was 18), had some good martial arts experience, too, but the next time he was not so lucky, got a bit cocky I guess, and ended up in hospital, me being scared stupid about him and him having learned the hard way that walking away is better by far. If you can walk, walk. Otherwise you might never again.
