quick question,

when you screed a shower room and you want the water to run down to the drain, you create a notch at the end of your wood, is that for the tile thickness? just wondering if you could help me here

well, while on site i noticed the tiler cut a length of wood that was long enough for the length of the room and cut a small right angled notch at the end of it and rested it on the drain and rotated it around when the screed had been poured to get a flat/level surface and i was wondering would he use the thickness of the tile to get the notch at the end of his wood because that would need to be taken into consideration so that the tile meets up with the drain so the water runs into it. i hope i make sense, its frustrating trying to explain:incazzato:

Still finding it hard to see how he formed his falls even with a notch cut out..( no level)


You can form falls just with a float and level if the area is only a shower..

details: swimming pool. i know that we are using mapei p4 for the screed which can be used as a levelling compound we also used mapei adesilex p9 white adhesive to level the walls out for the mosaic going around the swimming pool, we done this by serating the wall with the flat side of the serator and runnin a straight edge up so that when it came to fixing the mosaic it would meet with the finger grips (perimeter tiles around the tops of the pool) instead of the finger grips lipping over the mosaic. the mapei p4 is used in the shower areas.

he did have a level and float with him to compact the screed, its just something i was wondering as i wasn't working with him, al just ask him when i see him, thanks lads:smilewinkgrin:

Yeah Mozzy the notch is the depth of the tile plus addy we do it like that all the time here we dont have preformed.
