Hi tilers!
First of all, thanks for all you have written in this great forum! :hurray:
We would be very grateful for some advice on this situation.
Our kitchen floor needs to be tiled. It has a concrete floor, probably without damp proof barrier in it.
Here is what we plan to do:
put down a vapour barrier
lay out wooden batons on top and screw them down into the concrete floor
fit insulation between the batons
nail down hardwood plywood 25mm
seal the ply with SBR
tile with porcelain 60x30x1cm tiles and some PTBflexible BAL adhesive
We really want a bit of insulation. This is why we bother about the wood batons. Also, the concrete floor has a bitumen based asbestos glue on it which cant be safely removed so it was hard to think of any other solution.
The problem is that I worry that piercing a vapour barrier sounds pretty wrong. Is there a way around it? Or perhaps it isn't all that bad with a few small screw holes?
Thanks!
Mirjam
