in my experience mate I find keeping the Silicon as narrow as possible is the best way as when it is wide to the point that your finger cannot shape without it seeping at either side of your finger is when it can be a bit more tricky. I guess it comes with practice. I hate doing it and am not the best at it.

I have heard of guys using tape, tea spoons, wet finger with soap etc, etc.

experiment and find which works for you but, 'dont leave it to set' (lol)

cheers Dave, will try that

tfs- 'dont leave it to set' - wont need to tell me that twice!! cheers

If your not comfortable with a Silicon gun i would suggest using masking tape were possible along both edges to be sealed push the Silicon into the gap with your thumb and remove masking tape then spray with water and give a final gentle wipe.

thanks for that advice but have done a few now and a wet thumb gets it sorted or wonder wipes if i have problems but live and learn as they say!
