Hi chaps,

I have been ask if I want to be part of a team of tilers to tile a nightclub. There is 800m2 in total and I need to come up with a price per m2.

What is a sensible price for my area (Manchester) as I haven't really got a clue what to charge. At the moment I just charge per job as I find it easier that way.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it's onto new level plasterboard and standard ceramics, easy to fix :)

800m2 is quite a bit, so if you are fairly quick in fixing then you could go low'ish cos your gonna make up for it in amount per day.

£20 psqm maybe, 8sqm per day should be very easy on good large area walls, depends on if theres loads of stuff to cut around which will slow you down.

If 'the guy' reckoned he could do 40m2 per day, he doesnt need a squad of tilers as he could do it himself!. Stick to your guns, £20 pm.

I price every job by the m2 and by dayrate and usually come to a compromise before I tell the client. I put every one into a spreadsheet after the job and the actual time is known and break it down per m and per hr.
Then I know what i can do on what surface with what tile and how much i will make and also if i know what i need to earn per day then I know what to charge per m in the future.

Well the guy reckoned he could do 40m2 in a day but that seems a lot to me. There will be a fair few tilers on the job though.

.............and yes they are standard ceramics.
thats exactly the type of comments im talking about. He is either going to tell you you are too slow and you will need to take a reduced rate ,just be careful m8.

oh there goes another flying pink elephant.40m2 a day what a joke he must have been smoking some strong ****.:whatchutalkingabout

Thanks for the comments guys. Not sure what to do here really. I have only been doing the job 6 months so I ain't going to be very quick in comparison to some of the other guys. Thing is he told me there would be other work from him.

Not sure what to do, would be good to get this sort of work but not sure I really want/need the stress thats goes with it.

I don't see 40mtrs a day as a joke..when you do contract tiling and its big area's to go at then 40 mtrs is easy to do..trust me when i used to do contract tiling that sort of quantity was a common thing...even more if you are tiling large car showroom floors....but seen as this is a night club then the rooms will probably be toilet blocks which will be empty and most likely fully tiled due to maintenance of them..so big area's can be covered in no time....contract work is a lot quicker than domestic..so expect to work like crazy....good luck mate and don't be afraid to go for it..that's how you get the experience after all..........
