Shears for cutting Hardibacker

Anyone know where I can get shears suitable for cutting the Hardibacker board?

Most people use the scribe tool that is available from where you bought the boards.

I have not seen shears for cutting hardibacker but i have seen a special shaped carbide scoring blade , i also believe you can get various blades for angle grinders or rotary cutters so it might be worth giving hardibacker a buzz as they will be able to find someone who stocks them locally to you :lol:

I'ce got the scoring tool but I need to cut irregular shapes so I'll try the company to see if they know. There are dire warnings about using power tools on Hardibacker due to the dust created.

I use a hand saw from wicks for cutting plaster and cement boards, its like a serated knife and comes with a material pouch and to say it was only about £7 i've been very impressed with it, it cuts through cement board like butter and doesnt blunt quickly.

I imagine he means one of these. I've used the Wickes one and a Stanley one. They Stanley is a little better made I'd say, but both do the job.

Sorry mate, couldnt find a link to the exact one on the website, but it is prety much like the ones above, when i bought it i though it would be rubbish but would do for the job i was on, but to my amazement it just keeps cutting and cutting, cant fault it, and it'll do straights, curves, twist to cut 90 degree corners etc, doesnt make much mess either.

Most B&Q outlets will sell them. And while its more expensive than the wickes one. The blade is undoubtedly better quality - and the handle is a much better feel in the hand (and how something feels in the hand is mighty important mg_smile
