hi all

tiling a concrete floor next week. floor is inconsistent in places. client is happy for me to pack tiles up where needed rather than use leveling compound. have explained to the client that not all adhesives are designed for such an application, but that there are thick bed adhesives that will allow for a max 15mm bed. being a rigid floor, it is not vital to use a flexible addy, however, I'm wondering if i shouldn't advise them to get flexible seeing as though i'm having to pack the tiles up.

thanks for your input!!!!

Instead of packing the floor up, and assuming your using rapid, why don't you just put a skim of rapid down in the pot holes to build it up to the substrate level, after preping of course. That is of course if it's just 'places' A word of warning, been caught out before, it can work out costly packing out every other tile or so with rapid or any addy, if it needs slc then do it, sounds to me if your already talking 15mm bed then we're talking large format, you don't want any discrepancies in floor level.

IMHO, others will have their opion / input for ya as well. :)

If you use to thick a bed you will get shrinkage under the tiles potentialy causing problems with hollow tiles So go for a thick bed adhesive that will be ok for up to 25mm

thanks gazza.......one question tho.....being a thick bed addy will this it be ok for "normal" areas of the floor where I will not have to pack up?
