Brindle

Hi folks - Happy Easter!

Am doing a couple of showers. One is glass mosaic already in brickbond, frosted glass, looks like painted on the reverse.

I'll try and upload a piccy - no that didn't work 🙁

q1. The shower screen box says the fixing rails must be fixed onto a tiled surface. Does that mean I should tile out an extra few inches and finish with some trim/ or should I tile to the outer edge of the tray? Presumable then it's my job to drill the holes for the plumber to fix screen?

q2. How can I back skim the sheets without getting adhesive pushing through when affixed?

Sorry for length of post, I as most people on here - just want to get it 100% right!

Sorry that misreads a bit - the tiles for the shower are affixed to their mat thing in a brickbond pattern!

I should also add, I will be using mosaic adhesive, and a mosaic trowel.

I didn't see anything. I have held them up to the window and you can see your finger shadow behind though

A thin-bed solid-bed trowel should work to get a solid coverage over the tiles back....Some mosaic trowels will give a good coverage as well......If you can get away back-skimming without too much adhesives squashing through then do so but if not you will create your self some clean up work to do....
Best thing would be to do a test sheet and see what coverage you get from your mosaic trowel....if you get sufficient coverage to prevent any shadowing then go for it....

Let us know how you get on......some pics would be nice....

For drilling the holes i would recommend the drills available from Porsadrill (365 drills, link at top of this page) They will drill loads of holes in the glass mosaic without problem, but do not use the same bits to drill into the wall.

Thanks Sir, I have the 365 bits after reading how ace they were on here - and they are!

Where would you end either side of the tiles though?

Not sure what you mean but i wouldnt use the drill bits to drill into the wall. Once through the tile i would change for the correct drill for what i was drilling into myself.
