Shower tiling

Not a full wetroom but will have a shower in the corner of the room with shower screen,substrate is skimmed plaster board,rest of the room is emulsion, should this be tiled and then have a tile impregnator/sealer painted on after,i think a shower kit is more suitable. white star adhesive and some GT1 in the grout. whats your view on this guys,cheers.

Are you tiling the emulsioned bit too? I would personally use a membrane tanking kit with powder adhesive certainly for the shower area.

it is on top of the sizing coat of emulsion,i personally wouldnt have sized it but its not my job lol,so obv that emulsion needs keying, so you reckon wp1? i dont trust that empregnator,

What tiles are you fixing ceramic, porcelain etc

I'm pretty sure they're 600x400 travertine but like I say it's not my job I'm just enquiring for a relative, btw it is tiled town to tray too

You will find that the substrate - skimmed plasterboard and emulsioned walls - are totaly unsuitable for tiles of that size and weight. Skimmed plasterboard should only be tiled with materials up to 22kg per sq metre.
Travertine can be sealed with an impregnator of stone seal - see LTP link - a forum sponsor.
If you are to advise your relative the correct method, then remove all skimmed walls and replace with mechanically fixed tile backer boards, or if within guidelines of 32kg /sq metre plasterboard and a tanking membrane to 'wet' areas.
There is only one way to do it correctly.
