Wood's better

Hi all,

hope you can help?

The last shower tray I stuck down with tile adhesive had a very slight flex in the middle when set. I guess this was not enough tile adhesive? I used my normal 10 mm U notched floor trowel.

Has anyone got any tips for solid bedding these down? Should I use a 15 or 20 mm notch?

Plumbers I meet just seem to dot and dab the trays down!

I used Keraflex maxi as this can be bedded up to 15 mm. Do you use white adhesive or is grey OK?

Advice much appreciated

Richard

Have had the same happen. Best to prime the underside of the tray and back butter with adhesive. Grey addy is cheaper so I use that.

Thanks, I will try this. Do you do this and use 10 mm notched trowel?

FYI It was a resin tray, not plastic. It's not moving, just slight flex

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I always use plaster to bed trays - taught to me by local bathroom specialist.

Bearing in mind that many plastic trays are designed to be supported on legs above floor boards - then I would suggest manufacturers are happy to have plastic trays dobbed and dabbed too.

I know, I know ..... dob and dab is so un-tilerish.
