shower tray question

hello all, just wanted to ask if anyone knows of a shower tray that finishes flush with the surrounding tiles. the client wants a shower tray as opposed to a marmox/wedi shower former that's then tiled as they don't like envelope cuts and are not keen on mosaics either. i don't normally get involved in the choice of sanitaryware etc so not sure where to point them in the right direction, or if it is indeed possible to source this kind of tray. all and any ideas greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. cheers.

There are tile able formers that have linear drains so only need to slope in 2 directions, thus eliminating the need for envelope cuts or using a mosaic.

thanks bri, i know the ones you mean and did show him some literature from schluter with those kinds of shower formers, but he still had preference for a shower tray. he may well decide to go for one of those, but it would be nice if i could find something that fits in with what he initially wanted.

Hi John ther is a website called colour trays. They do all sorts of colours and sizes. They look quite thin as well. Not sure if that's any good for you

Does it have to finish flush, or will they go for a low profile tray? Maybe you could use a low profile tray, then build the floor up with ply and Ditra? Not sure how you't finish it at the tray though, as you wouldn't be able to Silicon over the cut tiles!?!

thanks for the replies, i'll check out that colour trays site now. he does want it to finish flush with the surrounding tiles, and i found this site;
Duravit - DuraPlan
that has the kind he's looking for, however they are very pricey so any options would be good. may have a look at the way you suggested too beanz as may be able to work it that way too. thanks again for the replies. cheers.

Hi I’m a little confused with that tray, how does it work? It looks flat in the photos and there is no lip? How is the water controlled? How much are they.

In planning on fitting my shower tray soon. Planned on getting a low profile tray and tiling up to. I'm plying the floor below the tray with thinner ply than the rest of the room. Then with 12mm tiles + adhesive it should finish flush with the tray. Some beading around it to finish it off nicely.

I always thought a tray needed to be on 18mm ply!?! I've never really looked into that though, it's just how I've always done it.

I have just done a wetroom which had a shower former which did not need envelope cuts and I used 300 x300 it look great and it was easy to lay.

Shower trays which are 25mm or 40mm look well nice in bathrooms can also get them in colours, bit of a wait, now we often use a bathroom site online who do coloured trays dont know if that would help you. We recently refurbished some camping pods that everyones raving about, expensive ones, but the owners couldnt have been happier with the result
