Could any one advice on using 9mm thick ply to repair shower wall ??
I have already cut a piece of ply and put it in place - see picture in attachment.

The problem was caused by water seeping through into the ordinary 9mm plasterboard put in by our builder. The condition of the boards around this region seem ok despite 5 years of use.

I have the following
Mapei Primer G
Mapei Keraquick
Mapei Latex Plus

Is there a waterproof seal I could put on the ply before putting the Primer, or would I be better off going for a aqua/hardiback board ?
Unfortunately, these are only available in 6mm and 12mm at my local merchant, so I'm not sure how I'd get around this - as you can guess I'm not a pro in this field !

Any help appreciated ....

In this instance I'd be putting 9mm plasterboard back on, then tanking it, then tile. Only problem being, you could really do with tanking the whole shower area not just this problem area. I can't help but feel that you're going to have a similar issue somewhere else in the shower at a later date.

As above.

The colouring of the remaining plasterboard in the picture tells me that that piece has been effected/water damaged as well. You'd be better off replacing it all, tanking and re-tiling.

Thanks for the advice.
I think I'll try replacing with a 9mm plasterboard and tanking as you suggest. I don't feel comfortable with the ply solution, and neither am I happy to try 6mm or 12mm aqua boards as they wouldn't be flush with the other boards.
