The most common pipe sizes in a bathroom are 15mm copper pipe (sinks & radiators) 22mm copper pipe (bath fill and some heavy use power showers) then either 6mm or 8mm for fixtures and fitting like mirrors, loo roll holders etc. Waste pipes are either 32mm (sink) or 40mm (bath) but remember that these are the INTERNAL pipe diameters.
If you were going to purchase a selection of universal cores you need
6mm - 8mm - 16mm - 30mm - 40mm which will cover the majority of the common pipe sizes.
The good news is we recognised these sizes and using a computer CAD program designed and built a drill plate which has each size on it.
We now sell a universal kit which makes use of all the popular sizes.
This is it
You are now guaranteed perfect holes / results into any type of
tile from soft ceramics to hard porcelains.
Drilling tiles is now fairly straight forward.
For example this is a chrome 15mm radiator pipe fitted into a hole created by a 16mm core
And this is a similar hole but instead of hiding it with the cap (as in the shot above) the cover plate has been deleted. A piece of Silicon was used just to finish the joint so the customer has a "minimalist" and "contemporary" radiator fitting which looks fantastic.
Remember that although these are wall radiators the results look spectacular on FLOOR tiles when fitted around pipes rather than ugly
tile break outs and refits.
In today's bathrooms it seems the customer wants the unfussy - uncluttered look so getting as close a fit to the pipe size is important.
