Shuttering ply

Hi
My first post and a question about whether I can use 18mm shuttering ply to overboard the original floorboards before laying 300x600mm porcelain tiles. I would be grateful too for any suggestions on which adhesive and grout too. I would be grateful for any suggestions at all really. Thanks.

In answer to your question, no, shuttering ply is not suitable for overboarding. It needs to be WBP ply or marine ply. WBP is cheaper.

Use a flexible adhesive such as BAL SPF (or rapidset) or Mapei flexible adhesives if you can get them. Ardex 7001 is excellent also. You will need to use a flexible grout too. Ultracolor plus is my prefered choice at present, though it is not as easy to use as some others that are available.

As for the adhesive - the worlds your oyster. Obviously you will be using bagged with porcelbond and flexible properties. I have used bal rapidset and the weber equivalent. Both as good but the weber was a third the price as CTD had a special offer on - so look for one of those

Shuttering ply..OSB...is a big NO NO to tile to....it is not a stable enough product to tile too...
You will need WBP ply or some sort of backer/aqua board..

The good wood has been ordered and is now in my garage waiting for me to do something with it.
