Silicon or Caulk??

Probably an easy one..

Done a floor, polished porcelain, beige/grey colour with a light grey grout.

The skirting boards have now been glossed, and its ready for me to tidy-up the edges,

So am I best using:

1) White Silicon
or
2) decorators caulk??

I'm not thinking a coloured Silicon for this one.

Siliscone or Caulk??

Thin bead of white Silicon I reckon, caulk will get dirty when mopping.

What colour is the skirting? Usually use white Dow Corning Silicon with white skirting and Forever Ivory with oak etc. Would imagine tbat caulk would crack sooner rather than later.

Forgot to add a pic, not the best pic's though

White skirting.

I didn't think about the caulk cracking or getting mucky, but I suppose it will.

So definately Silicon, I will checkout the Dow Corning Silicon too

most skirtings are white just my opinion but white Silicon will look naff and out of place and will get dirty easier and caulk is not appropriate

use coloured silicones on most jobs unless skirts are being fitted at end and they look great imo

Put white dow corning in every room of my own house two years ago and still bright white. Finishes nicely to the floor as it blends in. Great stuff for what you need.

Siliscone or Caulk??

I would have told the decorator to sort that one.
imo if there were any slight gaps between skirting & floor he should have caulked them 1st then glossed..

Usually i do the same as kilty but take each job on its own merits, if you use light grey silicon it will brame the floor, if you use white then it would probably look more natural on this occasion.

Decorators job for me! White caulk then he can paint it. Any more movement than that and there is a problem.
