Silicon over old silicon?

I'm going to put the first bead of silicon on. Where the new plasterboard meets the bath is covering the old silicon seal. However, there is one part, about 4" long, where the old silicon can be seen. Is it OK to silicon over the old stuff or will it need to be cut out, cleaned and new silicon applied? Thanks.

As you said , remove old silicone...

Definitely clean it off fully and do a fresh new job of it.

As above, Silicon will not adhere to cured Silicon.
