I am also thinking of advertising (maybe a flyer or something) to get some work in grout & silicon repair work. As things are slow in the laying department, thought I might try get some other jobs on the go. Just want to make sure I am using the best methods before I go out and get the jobs as it can be a pain in the ....! somtimes hense not many people wanting to do it!

The Silicon Eater needs to be left for two hours to work properly. Homebase sell one by HG chemicals which claims to work in 15 minutes but I have not tried it yet. If you are on the lookout to do re-Silicon and re-grout jobs you best tell the customer you cannot guarantee results as no-one knows what is under the tiles. Buy yourself an Oscillating Multi tool ( I got a Fein ) which is far and away better than struggling to get it out by hand. Good for architraves and when ply boarding as well. bOur old mate David at Tradetiler will sell you one !

Tile Giant sell a really good silicon remover, it's red and black, can't find a link to it.
It would be great for stripping out the initial bulk, then a new flat stanly blade plus the silicon eater should do the trick.
I do like the way my fein works on silicon, but you do need other tools as it can be a real ba....................
