Tips for cleaning off silicon sealant

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi Guys

I'm not a tiler but hopefully you don't mind helping me out please.

I've spilt a fair bit of 'Silicon based' sealant gel (for sealing up external electrical junction boxes) on slabs where we were working yesterday !

Tried sanding out this morning but not getting it right out.

Is there any sort solvent that would bring it out - hopefully ?

Thank you
Sy

Try this mate but wash it off after as it could leave an equally annoying mark if they're sandstone so clean it off them quickly throw some buckets of water over the lot to dilute it to a point it's not harmful to the stone.

Okay mate, test on a small area first. Want something that is quite PH neutral as acid or alkaline could eat away. Plenty of washing off after.

I'd even use a bit, then use kitchen tissue or blue-roll to soak up the fluid (I'm assuming it would end up a fluid here) and once you've done the lot then wash off and the product should have mostly been caught on the kitchen roll.
