Silicone around bathroom floor

I am thinking it would give a nice neat edge to silicone around the edge of my bathroom floor.
Is this advisable, or should I stay with grout?

Tile to tile, you want to silicone, so it's water tight (or as water tight as it can be anyway...)

I always silicone john but that's a very impressive selection their! Where and how much? Do you use this?

Personally i silicone all internal corners.... If anything it means i don't have to be so precise with my cuts

My overall silicone finish is only as good as my poorest cut!

I haven't used them Mark, I bookmarked it after someone on here said they used this product with good results. I was impressed with the colour options as you never know when you may require.

Thats an impressive range! I knew they did a good neutral curing silicone for stone use, but didn't realise they had such a colour range!?!

Im feed up telling people all internal corners should be siliconed. If I refused to grout corners I wouldnt have much work.....

i didn't say I was going to use it lol! I always keep my options open.. You never know, the next bathroom i rip out (Monday incidentally) may have tenting issues, due to the lack of a movement joint..

Crikey, I thought it was an easy question :lol:. My query came about because I saw a job finished with silicone corners and it looked great. I was talking to my kitchen fitter who is also a tiler and he said dont use silicone around the floor because floor cleaning chemicals cause it to deteriorate quickly.

The problem with grout is that it will eventually crack and look a lot worse a year down the line. Use a decent silicone such as Dow corning and you wont have any problems with chemicals etc...

Just run a cloth over it after applying. I might remove the skirting board, apply the silicone and replace the board so your pretty boards will show while you still benefit from the silicone. But on all visible surfaces the cloth works great!

HaHaHa don't tell everyone :sofahide: there is nothing wrong with my one inch wide beads!!

I meant more on the front of not worry if it runs out a mil or so from top to bottom........... My cuts are tight mate, don't worry about that :8:

Topps do a cracking tool for silicone, it comes with multi changing heads. Always used to use my finger but would take me bloody hours and i'd be covered in the stuff. It's 9 quid and produces a lovely neat finish and it clears the sides free of silicone as it goes.
