I use spray, and a Silicon smoothing tool. I find them great. Spray, push it tight into the wall and no more then a couple of wipes a very straight even line. Much better then the popsicle sticks i use to work with. The set I have is still going strong after a year. Decent hard plastic that hasn't worn down from all the scraping.

I use the Fugen thingys or a pinky if its in an awkward spot.

All I have ever used is my finger and finger nails. I'm blessed with the perfect size digits and I carry them with me everywhere.
