sites is slow in Ireland too,
Dublin has virtually stopped as have all counties as i see it,
3 months since i done a site job,i can't count my hotel job as a site job but its great,i can come and go to it at the minute as there is no rush yet,
i gave it 2 days last week,3 this week and maybe 5 next week !!
means i can keep everyone else happy too,my phone hasn't stopped since last week,9 other jobs on ! hillhead very strong at the minute thankfully,my reputation is building nicely thanks to past customers and a few good tile shops !
so private work is very good for me lately and now ! i was told that sites might pick up by october but who really knows???

My missus works in sales and marketing for persimmon,

There only building houses that have been reserved now, the market is shockingly quite, last week over 5 days went buy and she had 1 person come in to enquire, its a good site as well but nothing is happening.

The person that came in was only looking new build cos they couldnt sell their house and wanted to try and part ex it, Persimmon arent even offering part ex's at the moment on most sites cos they cant sell them on again quickly even at a loss like they used to be able to.

There only her, small handfull of builders finishing the houses already sold and a security gaurd on her site, there even offering to build which ever house you want on any plot to try and shift some instead of them stipulating what house goes on which plot.

If she doesnt start selling some soon im going to have to get her a bar job to bump her wage as alot of it is commission based. lol.

Father in-law works for wimpeys and they are shutting sites all over the n/east............he has just been given 30 days notice....this is a following trend now with site work...if the plots arnt selling then they can't afford to keep the sites open..........but it does depend on the areas as well...some sites are doin ok....

At the moment the missus has been told she can offer a £20,000 discount without clearling with the sales manager, they have just given a discount of a whisker under £50,000 on one place cos the customer could pay cash and held out till the death for the deal, this was a £350,000 apartment though so no dount they will still make a hefty profit anyway.
