Slate feature wall in kitchen

Hi all,

I'm wanting to produce a feature wall in our kitchen. I really like black slate, and originally wanted the split-faced mosaic. However, I soon realised it's very expensive and also a nightmare to keep clean. So then I looked at regular slate wall tiles.

However, since doing some research on max tile weights on walls, am I right in thinking I can't tile slate directly to a plastered wall, or is there a way.??

Many online retailers do not list the weights of tiles!

Approx max weight on plaster skim is 20kg per m2, you need to allow for adhesive and grout too. Have you got room to overboard the wall? Plasterboard will take 32kg and backer boards even more.

There's a small window on the same wall which would cause me grief (and I've just had the wall rendered and skimmed after I bricked up a back door).

I also like those sort of metallic oxide tiles, antracite/black colours (like this -Verlo Metallic effect wall tiles | Tiles and Mosaics ) can you get something similar in a fairly light weight tile.?
