Slate price

Should slate be priced in the same bracket as the likes of granite and marble or more/less?

If different, why?

I always charged the same as natural stone because I always washed it first, then graded it prior to fixing plus all cutting has to be done wet.

Had tons of natural stone work recently, seems like everyone is going for it.

This is my first slate job though so want to price it properly.
44sqm kitchen floor and a 12sqm hallway, she is still undecided yet on which tile to choose but the oven she just ordered is £14000 so im thinking it will be a good slate.
Going on floorboards so going to go for a 9mm backer board.

I used to charge the same for all other than ceramics. Same price for mosaics and natural stones most times too. Just ceramics cheaper to fix IMO.

the time involved with slate is much more than most other tiles so i would price accordingly: cleaning, allowing to dry, grading, sealing etc 30 to 40 sqm.

My first paid job was slate ( just my luck ). I found it very time consuming, what with sorting, sealing, packing out etc. But I had to spend the time to make it look right. When it was done though it looked really nice. But hassle so in the region of £45- £50 m2 :yes:
