Hi all, first post so play nice!

I am about to start a rebuild of our bathroom. It is stud walls on all sides with plasterboard. The floor is T&G chip board. Due to leaks over the years I am going to have to replace the floor boards. Along one wall we have stud box work covering the pipes and cistern.

We plan to use 10mm thick slate tiles, approx 28kg per m2. These will be a mixture of 300x600, 120x600 and 60x600. On one wall we have some slate split face cladding coming in at 36kg per m2.

My questions:
#Am I ok to completely cover the bathroom in 10mm marmox (walls and floor). The walls and box work will be studs at 300mm.
#Am i correct in thinking that in the shower area I should use solid adhesive, or should I comb it?
#Should the adhesive be 6mm thick?
#I have seen conflicting info about whether to prime the marmox boards, can anyone clarify?

#For the floor, should the boards be glued (using tile adhesive) or screwed? Again, I have seen conflicting info.

#Will the 10mm board support the weight of a wall mounted sink or will I need to build a frame behind it? In the current bathroom the sink is simply screwed to 18mm ply. I am not planning on having anything too extravagant for the sink, I doubt it will be very heavy.

#If I use the marmox waterproof tape around all of the floor level joints under the shower and seal between the joints up the wall will that suffice for tanking?

Thanks in advance for your help!

hi
10mm board may be a tad too thin i would want 12.5mm,10mm is ok for over boarding on floor.
Are the tiles real slate or slate effect?
I would only glue the board to the floor if i wanted to level the floor, otherwise screw only, your choice.
tape all joints walls and floor.
6mm trowel is fine for the whole job presuming all surfaces are true, check with straight edge to see if there are any highs or lows in walls and floor and use adhesive to fill voids as and when where needed.
Use a single part flexi adhesive for all the work.
you will need extra support for a wall hung basin but not for a basin and pedestal as you can fix with Silicon as most plumbers do but dont tell you.
dont forget to take time and set the job out properly.

Hi thanks for the reply. I am also considering using no more ply as it is significantly cheaper at 12mm. Anyone know/recommend a decent waterproof tape?

The slates are real. Any brands of adhesive better than others for this job? I don't mind paying more to get it done right
bal has improved since combining with ardex which in my opinion is one of the finest adhesives on the market.
I tend to use ctf4 for all my wall work tiles and stone alike, only comes in white though, around 19 quid a 20kg bag and well sticky but not over flexi and very easy to use.
