Hi, first post here, have been browsing and found some useful info, but nothing exactly answering my question...
We had a slate floor put down - riven uncalibrated grey slate. The tiler did an OK job, a few lips of a couple of mm but nothing too bad. What he did do, however, despite my warnings, was a very sloppy cleaning job before putting on protection/sealing. Result is that we have a load of dirt and dust sealed under the half of the floor he had done before we came home and saw what he was doing. He then tried to cover up the mess by putting more sealant on!!!
He's no longer on the project, obviously. Our builder has cleaned the rest of the slate that hasn't been sealed and it is looking pretty good.
We're going to use Lithofin Slate Oil for the tile finish in the kitchen and hallway. Is there any reason why you wouldn't use this product in a bathroom floor too (bathroom, not a wetroom)?
For the problem sealant area, the tiler applied Fila Colour Intensifier. How do I get the stuff off? I've tried both Lithofin Builders Cleaner and Lithofin Wexa - despite scrubbing with a nylon-bristle brush I can't seem to make any impression on the sealant. Is there something stronger I could use to remove the sealant and strip the slate back to its original state, prior to cleaning and oiling? Lithofin Wax-Off? Something else?
Help gratefully received...
